Spring is coming and it's time to think about freshening up your home's look. Spring is a time for change. clean out the old and bring in the new! changing your decor can be time consuming and expensive...but it doesn't have to be.
adding new decorative pillows to your living room, bedrooms, family room or really any area, can add a whole new dimension to your room for very little effort or expense.
Look at the visual components of the room that needs a lift. what is the current color scheme....the wall color...the primary furniture pieces, carpets etc.
decide on a color or colors that could work with the existing components. think about the textures of the surfaces of the pieces in the room. could you add a floral pattern, a geometric, a stripe? what would add excitement and visual texture to the room. what pieces of furniture would benefit most from an injection of color or texture?
there are many types of texture: sheen, matte surfaces, shiney surfaces, velvet textures, patterned surfaces, embroidery, pleating...the list is endless. here is where you can really use your imagination.
bunch several textures together on the same piece of furniture or your bed. use shiney surfaces with heavy textural pieces. add a stripe to the mix. use pillows that have one color in them that that works with the furniture they are sitting on. the same pillow can have one or more highlight colors as well. it's like adding hot sauce to salsa....it gives your room visual bite!
so be adventurous. go for it! you'll be amazed at the results you can get for a small amount of time, energy and money.
